Cannabis Optimized Ep. 9 – Kip’s Pharmacists

WHAT IS CLINICAL DIRECTOR’S ROLE IN ADULT-USE MARKET?

COCKEYSVILLE, MD –

We are headed towards an adult-use Cannabis market in Maryland, so what does that mean for the clinical directors in the state?

Dr Alexander Dix, PharmD, KIP’s clinical director and Cannabis Optimized host, sits down with two co-workers – Rachel and Karla – who, like Dr Dix, are licensed pharmacists, or are about to become one. The trio discuss what, if anything, they learned about cannabis as medicine in pharmacy school, as well as what they believe the role of a clinical director will be after July 1, 2023.

PHARMACY SCHOOL

Dr Alexander Dix attended Northeast Ohio Medical University and has been the Clinical Director at KIP since the store opened towards the end of 2018. Dr Rachel Shelton graduated from University of Maryland School of Pharmacy in Baltimore in 2022. She has been with KIP for nearly six months. Karla Hernandez is a fourth-year student at Notre Dame University School of Pharmacy. She has been with KIP for nearly a year.

Dr Dix offers complimentary consultations to anyone who might need more information about cannabis, especially how it might interact with other medications. He is in the shop on most Mondays and Fridays, and can meet via Zoom as well. You can schedule with Dr Dix here.

Though not quite ready to offer consultations, Dr Shelton works on Sundays at KIP, and  also works as a full-time pharmacist elsewhere. Karla also works in the shop on Sundays.
